Christmas Print Deadlines: What to Book in October Before the Slots Fill

A traditional Christmas tree glowing with warm lights beside Christmas print and branded workwear

October is the decision month for Christmas print. Book the products that need time for choices, artwork and coordination now, and keep November for the items that can genuinely wait.

As December approaches, production and supplier capacity can tighten. Popular products and finishes may become less available, and delivery dates can become less flexible. Exact timings depend on the product and specification, so there are no universal cut-off dates to rely on. Earlier planning gives your business more options.

October, Make the decisions that protect your Christmas plans

Start with the items linked to a fixed event, seasonal launch, mailing or team requirement. Confirm what you need, where it needs to go and when you need it in hand. Then allow time for artwork, checks, approval and delivery.

Book now in October

  • Christmas cards and branded envelopes: Settle the design, quantities and any personalisation.
  • Christmas jumpers, hoodies and fleeces: Plan sizes and styles for your teams, subcontractors and seasonal staff.
  • Promotional products and branded merchandise: Consider mugs, notebooks, pens, calendars, diaries, umbrellas and tote bags.
  • Large format print: Arrange banners, roller banners, posters, window graphics and stickers for seasonal displays.
  • Hospitality menus and seasonal brochures: Give your team time to approve festive offers, menus and printed guides.
  • Packaging and gift presentation: Plan branded packaging, printed inserts and presentation materials together.
  • Leaflet delivery and direct mail: Allow time to prepare artwork, mailing details and local festive campaign requirements.

Think beyond Christmas Day. Christmas and New Year workwear can help your brand stay visible through the busy season and into the new year. Branded clothing builds and maintains brand awareness, creates a professional and consistent brand image, and helps staff and subcontractors feel part of the team.

Hoodies, fleeces, custom T-shirts and hi vis all need thoughtful choices around garment, sizing and branding. This is a high-touch service: we provide expert oversight and bespoke guidance to help align your clothing and logo with the quality your brand represents.

November, Finish approvals and protect the campaign

November can still work for selected items, but it is not the best time to begin every Christmas project from scratch. Use it to complete decisions, approve artwork and coordinate delivery, not to assume every product or finish will remain available.

If your design is still in progress, choose a clear approval contact and check the details carefully: wording, dates, quantities, sizes, addresses and artwork. Our Free Design Check is included with every order. It gives you an extra check before production, but it does not replace your final approval.

Can still wait until November or December?

Some work may be suitable for later planning, depending on its product, specification and required delivery date:

  • New Year sale posters and window graphics.
  • January campaign print and seasonal brochures.
  • Smaller reprints and top-up orders.
  • Additional business cards, stickers or menus where the artwork is already approved.

Earlier is always safer. Availability and delivery flexibility can change as the season progresses, so ask before leaving a job until later. A product that seems like a simple top-up may still need fresh artwork, a new proof or coordination with other campaign materials.

December, Keep the focus on what is ready

December is best approached with approved, clearly specified work, not as a guaranteed last-minute solution. Confirm what is required, where it must be delivered and whether the artwork and quantities are settled. We will discuss what is practical for your project; we will not promise a turnaround before confirming the details.

For new year activity, use this period to plan the next campaign and identify what you want ready for January. Print RFT can help with the four key sale lines (business cards, stickers, posters and banners) alongside seasonal menus, brochures, leaflets and promotional products.
